Battle Over Convergence
from the who's-gonna-win? dept
Red Herring tries to sort out the convergence market to see who's going to win. They place a lot of emphasis on the digital recorder (or personal video recorder or whatever you want to call it this week - most people just call them Tivos, even when they're not made by Tivo) market. There is certainly interest in the market, but not much in the way of sales. I still think that it's going to wait until the service providers make a bigger push to consumers about them. Many people won't buy their own Tivo until their cable company tells them why they should.
