Good Worm, Good Idea?
from the the-other-viewpoint... dept
We were just discussing last week the idea of the "good worm" being a bad idea, but not everyone agrees. Here's an article about someone who thinks a good worm will be the best way to protect the internet when "the big one" hits. It does make some sense that a good worm will be a lot faster in getting around to fix infected machines and patch holes. However, with so many different configurations, and so many different things that can go wrong, there's still a fairly big chance that any "good worm" can do more harm than good.
