Metricom Auction: Quick, Sparsely Attended, Still Secret
from the still-waiting... dept
The Metricom/Ricochet auction happened this morning, but nothing is going to be revealed until Monday (damn them!), so I'm still stuck waiting to figure out what to do with my ricochet modem. Apparently, fewer than expected bidders turned up - many bidders were confused by the rules of the auction. How fitting is it for Metricom, who never could figure out how to market themselves, to even mess up the marketing of their bankruptcy auction? Also, a number of people who didn't take the time (as I did) to call and find out that you wouldn't be allowed in the auction without putting down a significant chunk of cash were turned away at the door.
