Pop Under Ads May Backfire
from the please-send-this-to-all-sites-using-pop-under-ads dept
Jupiter Media Metrix is now saying that pop under ads are probably too annoying to be effective. The majority of people who see them close them within 20 seconds, and the number of people who actually buy something after seeing a pop under ad is less than the margin of error - in other words not significantly different than zero. However, sites are happy to have them because they bring in money, and unless they see a huge public outrage (hint: time for some public outrage, folks), they're going to continue.
