HomeStore Might Not Look So Great

from the the-potential-failure-of-a-sucess-story dept

HomeStore is often an example used to show a "successful" dot com. However, some people are beginning to question just how long that success will last. There are a lot of problems with HomeStore, many of which stem from a number of controversial deals they've made with partners. A lot of their customers are pissed off, and a lot of other customers are major shareholders - leading to some odd conflicts of interest (as customers they want lower prices, as owners they want the company to charge more). It's not at all clear that everything will work out okay. What I want to know is why they're considered a successful dot com when they're not profitable yet?
