People Who Like The DMCA
from the unfortunately-these-are-people-in-Congress dept
With all the talk about how silly the DMCA is, and how Adobe was convinced by a bunch of hackers to back down on sending a programmer to jail for it, don't expect the law to change any time soon. It seems that the folks in DC are very happy with the DMCA. It's not surprising that some big companies are happy with it, because it allows them to be sloppy and make more money at the same time. You would think at some point some folks in Congress would wake up, look at the law and realize that it causes a lot of pointless problems that hurt more people than it helps - but that doesn't seem likely. The story also suggests that it's unlikely for the government to be dropping the case against Sklyarov any time soon.
