The Cyber Park Bench
from the a-day-at-the-park dept
Somewhere in the UK, Microsoft is helping to set up an internet connected park bench. Basically, you can go to this bench and plug in your computer. It's not clear if there's any charge for using the bench to connect to the internet - and the Register is a bit scared that the exposed power plug is going to electrocute the first less-than-clueful person who tries to plug in on a rainy day. Of course, who would need any of this if Ricochets worked everywhere (and they weren't about to go out of business)? Besides, as the article points out, don't most people go to the park to get away from their computers?
