How Credible Is Your Website?

from the uh-oh dept

Consumer Reports is planning a big study that looks at how credible various websites are. I don't think we have much credibility at Techdirt right now, but once it's official... no one will trust us at all. Anyway, I sense lawsuits will come of this from news sources that are suddenly deemed "un-credible".

  • Easy Approximation

I see that there's also a dozen or so researchers at Stanford working on web credibility. I think someone could come up with a tool that would do a reasonable approximation of a site's credibility just by counting the misspellings, porn banner ads, pop-ups, pop-unders, midi files, profanities, and so on.
