Pop Unders Here To Stay

from the say-it-ain't-so... dept

A column over at News.com suggesting that those annoying pop under ads we've been complaining about are here to stay. I know there are ways to get rid of them. Every time I post an article about pop unders, someone here explains how to get rid of them (which is good). My real complaint is that I shouldn't have to do something extra to prevent an ad from taking over my browser. While I do agree with the writer that I'm sure the ads have gotten a lot of attention for x10, I'm willing to bet that it won't work as well with others (I've been noticing that eBay is now using pop unders as well). He points out that part of the reason this is happening is that advertising rates have gotten so cheap, that anyone can buy up thousands of ads now.

    Pop under ads

I still want to know who is actually using these ads to buy goods or services. I have never and will never purchse anything that is in a pop under ad. Spam is not a good way to gain customer loyalty to my mind. And I consider all forms of unwanted ads as forms of Spam. These things just drive me nuts.
