Napster Could Have Learned From Personics

from the the-song-remains-the-same dept

A look back to about a decade ago when a company called Personics tried to create kiosks in music stores that would allow consumers to create mix tapes of their favorite songs. A lot of what happened after that sounds very similar to what happened to Napster, even though Personics did their best to play nice with the music industry. Of course, I've heard plenty of other stories suggesting that in-store music kiosks were never that successful, anyway. However, it does give you yet another glimpse of how hard the music industry will work to make sure that no new technologies eat into their profits.
