Microsoft v. GPL Continues
from the round-2? dept
I pretty much ignored the whole Craig Mundie blasting the GPL concept because I knew it would get covered (to death) elsewhere, and it seemed like a very public attempt at a troll. However, now this is turning into a very public debate, which I find interesting. While people disagree about things a lot (and often these debates become public) this is a debate about technology that has been fought directly with open letters to the press. Round 2 started yesterday when a bunch of the open source/free software gurus put together an open letter on the subject. At first Microsoft had no comment, but this morning, Mundie fired back. I'm not sure if this really is the best way to debate topics such as these, but it will be interesting to see where the discussion goes from here.
