RIAA Running Scared After Forcing Professor To Drop Paper
from the be-careful-what-you-wish-for... dept
A good article pointing out that the RIAA and SDMI made a tactical error in forcing Prof. Felton to not present his paper on how to break the SDMI encryption scheme. Now they really look like bad guys. They're stifling academic research. They tried to backpedal today and say they really never had any intention of suing, despite the vaguely threatening wording of the original letter. The fact that they "won" may now help others to knock down the ridiculousness that is the DMCA.
