TheGlobe.com Delisted

from the stick-a-fork-in-'em dept

Okay, with all the dot coms being delisted these days, it's really not news. However, TheGlobe.com has a special place among the dot coms for being the poster child for dot com mania. They had the single largest opening IPO jump (from $9 to $97) after a small IPO slump in late 1998. They had postponed their IPO for a while, and then suddenly made a last minute decision to go public, and basically restarted the IPO bubble. Two and a half years later they're delisted. Ever since they started in a Cornell dorm room, they never ever seemed to have a real business plan other than to hype up the fact that they were started by two kids.
