How Do You Assign Passwords?

An amusing short blurb on a newsletter company that required registration and subscription to access an online newsletter. The system automatically generates a password for the user taking a "random" word from the dictionary and adding a single number to it. Sometimes randomness is not a good thing. The password assigned was "genitals8". The reader was a bit offended.
