A Business Week cover story takes a look at all the money that went to venture capitalists and investment bankers over the past few years. They go on to point out how much money the firms that those bankers and VCs took public lost individual investors. VCs admit that they made a lot of mistakes. Bankers and analysts are less willing to admit the mistakes they made - but the numbers don't look pretty. If you trusted what the investment banks and analysts told you, you'd have lost quite a bit of money by this point.
