Techdirt On TechTV

from the geek-site-of-the-day? dept

Techdirt? The "geek site of the day"? What a surprise. Actually, it comes after multiple promises from the folks at TechTV all last week that swore up and down that we were going to be the "geek site of the day" that day. On Thursday we got beat out by nothing (harsh) and on Friday by the website for the movie Joe Dirt (much harsher). I didn't even look at who beat us on Monday. But, on Tuesday, Techdirt was TechTV's "geek site of the day" mainly for our little anti-contest to their geek makeover contest. I was happy to notice, by the way, that absolutely no one entered their contest because, let's face it, geeks are a pretty lazy bunch. Anyway, they also were kind enough to put a link to our contest from their contest page. We discussed letting the winners of each of our contests go on a date together, but that seems unlikely since no one entered their contest, and the only entries I've received here have been awful.

    Hey Mike,
I saw this yesterday and wanted to say congratulations- I haven't kept up with your site, but it seems pretty big. Anyway just wanted to say that's exciting. See you.

I saw the whole thing on "The Screen Savers" and it was pretty good. They described your site as, and I'm paraphrasing here, "Tech news for the non-technical business person" and "a Slashdot-style blog for tech business news." I believe that's pretty accurate, because that's exactly why I read the site every day. All in all, it was a very good segment except when the girl said she was pissed at you for making fun of TechTV's contest. Can't win 'em all I guess.
