Interview With A Pedophile
from the investigative-reporting? dept
Not sure what to make of this one. The folks over at the Register decided to do some investigative reporting on online pedophiles. They created a character on IRC sporting a name that indicated she was a young girl and waited to see what happened. The "good" news is that in normal chat rooms no one approached her at all. It seems the pedophiles aren't as prevalent as some glossy magazines would have you believe. However, in apparently well known pedophile hang-outs the character was approached immediately. The text of the article includes a few transcripts from conversations with the people. I'm not sure if it proves anything other than there are a bunch of people out there who really need to get lives.
