Subliminal Beer Advertising

from the this-space-for-sale dept

Have you noticed that after looking at stock quotes on Marketwatch.com you've been thirsting after a cold beer? Well, considering the market lately, I'm sure many have turned to drinking anyway, but it looks like CBS Marketwatch has turned to selling their background image to Budweiser. It's an interesting tactic -- visually annoying, imho. See for yourself.

At least the real content is in front of the background. CNET news now looks like the articles are just filler around the margins of the huge annoying animated ads. I'm waiting for a site to put the real content in the background and layer the ads over top of it.

I can't see a beer ad there. Maybe my ad filter gets it though. BTW Budweiser bears no resemblance to beer anyway.

  • Budweiser Beer Commercials

    by J Bouclair

As an original 'baby boomer' growing up in a time
when most of the W.W.#2 veterans drank and often
abused beer I am appalled at the Budweiser Commercials and the control they have over TV>

Not that having a beer is a problem - BUT THE
MINDSET for WHY you have a BEER -- what are they
    teaching here?

    Rough quote of commercial:
A man sitting in squalor playing a guitar and
speaking out loud - he says "for you, I lost
my first wife, second wife, kids, job and beautiful home but it was worth it."
As I said my quote is not exact but you get the
point - and the 'you' - What else a Budweiser!

Don't we in North America have enough 'dependency
difficulties' that cost our governments and families money and other ever high prices.

    Jabbie
