Napster Agrees To Remove Certain Songs Over The Weekend

from the the-beginning-of-the-end? dept

While Napster is still waiting for the court's decision they have announced that they've created a system to voluntarily block songs by looking at names of the lists as they're uploaded. Of course, all this probably means is that people will figure out creative, but annoying new ways to name these "banned" songs. The judge in the case has announced that she'll be issuing an injunction but it's not clear when. Napster tried to convince the court that they should delay the injunction while Napster perfected the technology, but (not surprisingly) the RIAA said (and, sure, I'm paraphrasing), "No way! Kill 'em NOW! We want Napster blood!".
