Dot-Commers - Psychology's New Prey
from the go-after-the-wealthy dept
Duffman writes "From Sudden Wealth Syndrome to Internet addiction to (now) post-layoff burnout trauma, psychologists are finding that dot-commers are a deep well of psychological problems. With HMOs cutting sessions and encouraging drugs over therapy, many psychologists are finding practice isn't profitable, so the new trend is 'positive psychology' - nowadays, making unemployed dot-commers feel better about themselves. In fact, don't be surprised to see psychological consultants walking around your workplace sometime soon. Some bosses even tossed in a few sessions as part of a severance package. Funny how these conditions have only appeared in the last few years - I guess before the Internet, no one had problems with sudden wealth and stress after being laid off."
