Touchy Feely Computers

from the just-what-we-need dept

People get pissed off at computers. What if computers could recognize that fact and adjust to our moods? Some scientists are working on "affective computing" products to do exactly that. They talk about the emotion mouse, which acts as a sort of "lie detector" under your palm. Also, there are scientists at MIT who are working on a robot that responds to how you treat it. Of course, some folks may wonder why all this work is being put into "affective computing" when we really still don't have "effective computing" for many tasks.
