Sega's New Strategy

from the games-are-the-new-hollywood dept

Sega seems set to give up its role as a producer of consoles and focus on what they arguably do best: software. They'll be making software for their current competitor, Sony. To be honest it's a pretty surprising change in their strateg - especially due to the fact that the Dreamcast initially seemed a viable competitor to the Playstation 2. Like they say, if you can't beat'em join'em (and of course the market is rewarding them for this strategy shift).

Sega is denying these rumors as well as talking about the new set top boxes they're working on to show they're still very interested in hardware...

But wait... now they're saying maybe they are ditching Dreamcast. I guess they haven't figured it out exactly yet either.
