GE's Big Internet Lie?
from the savings?--What-savings? dept
GE has been making a lot of noise about how they've changed the entire company for the internet age, and how they're saving tons of money in doing so. The Industry Standard took a closer look at some of those claims and found that they just don't stand up. There's plenty of evidence that GE has made a lot of changes. However, there's very little evidence that it's actually saved the company any money, or brought in any new business. I think the article is a little harsh in trashing GE. I also think that more time needs to pass before you can say one way or the other how helpful the internet has been to GE, but it is still an interesting read to see how some companies can make certain claims that don't seem to have much in the way of evidence to support them.
