Review Of VC Actions In 2000

from the a-mixed-bag dept

A look at the venture capital world in the last year. It seems that on a year-to-year basis, there were more companies funded with more money in 2000 than in 1999. However, it definitely slowed down by the fourth quarter. At the same time, there is a ton of money invested in VC funds these days, so there should be plenty of money for them to invest in startups. Of course, they're going to be a lot more choosey and there are predictions of many more rounds of funding before a company is taken public (at a lower valuation then what most companies went for in the past couple of years). Nothing really new here, but a good summary, and some preliminary data from last year.
