There have been plenty of stories of fan sites being hit with cease-and-desist letters from the object of their affection. Here's a story of a fansite being sued by another fansite. Apparently fandom.com isn't too happy about fandom.tv. The article points out that fandom.com doesn't even own the trademark to fandom, and has plenty of questionable intellectual property on their sites. It's also amusing that one of the points of fandom.com is to protect fan sites from legal battles.
