Can Independent Bookstores Survive Online, Too?

from the no-publicity-is-bad-publicity? dept

I think books are a great holiday gift, and from all the advertizing in the Bay Area, you'd think Amazon.com or Barnesandnoble.com would be the first place to go. But what about smaller, independent bookstores? They have suffered quite a bit in the last few years, but some are still holding their ground. This article features one bookstore's efforts to survive, but curiously doesn't link, or even really name, the store explicitly. That doesn't seem like good publicity for Keplers.com.... Maybe after all these dot-com's go bust when the "internet fad" is over, it won't matter.
