Bands Distribute Music Online
from the stop-the-presses! dept
Okay, so maybe it's not big news that bands distribute their own music online but it's still an interesting article. Apparently, more and more musicians are actually making a reasonable amount of cash simply by posting their music to MP3.com. Of course, it's not clear from the article how these bands go about marketing themselves. As we recently pointed out, many bands go to great lengths to promote themselves. I definitely think it's good that bands are figuring out ways to go directly to their audience, and not feeling like they're compromising their sound. However, I do see the reason why there are labels to help musicians promote their music. If only the labels weren't such greedy slimy companies, there could be a middle ground.
