10 Key Moments in E-Commerce

from the huh? dept

I'm not exactly sure what the point of this article is other than filler for the E-Commerce Times, but they attempt to name the top 10 key moments in the history of e-commerce (the list so far is only up to five). I'm not sure I agree with most of the list. For example, personally, I don't see how Red Hat's IPO can be considered one of the top five key moments in e-commerce. I see the stretch by saying that Linux may be a legitimate platform to power e-commerce, but why is the IPO of Red Hat a "key moment"? Seems like a stretch. I'd be a lot more interested in what people think the top 10 key future events should be. What do people think will happen in the future of e-commerce?

Mike, I'm right there with you wondering what the Red Hat IPO was doing in there. I smell some pandering to the Linux zealots.

Also, I guess the development of SSL was completely unimportant to e-commerce. What's wrong with transferring your credit card info in plaintext, after all?
