Dot Com Backlash Hits the Burbs
from the keep-away dept
There have been plenty of stories about dot com backlash in San Francisco, but now it's spreading down the peninsula to the Valley area. The latest is the city of San Mateo thinking about banning tech companies from converting downtown retail shops into offices. This is pretty silly. Even the article points out that some of the retail space has been vacant for extended periods of time. Also, it's not like downtown San Mateo is a real popular destination for shoppers. There are a few good restaurants, but other nearby towns are a lot nicer.
