Failed Dot Coms Selling Your Personal Info

from the wait,-I-didn't-agree-to-that... dept

Privacy advocates I've known have said that they would never give info to a site that doesn't have a specific clause in their privacy statements concerning what happens to their data if the company is sold. Apparently, (and not surprisingly) most people haven't thought of this, and didn't look into the details. But, now, plenty of those same people are up in arms about failed dot coms selling their customer databases to others. It is, after all, their only real asset in some cases. Of course, it does really suck for the customers who have no idea where their data is going. When do the lawsuits begin?
