Lycos Ditches Lycos Technology

from the that's-not-what-you'd-expect dept

Lycos, which was founded based on their spidering technology, has had enough of their own technology. From now on, they're going to outsource their searching from Fast Search and Transfer. Fast also power's Dell's AllTheWeb search engine (and seems to spend an enormous amount of time checking out Techdirt according to the logs). Lycos had invested in Fast a while back so it's not a huge surprise. I've always been surprised though, that Lycos and AltaVista haven't been more closely related due to their CMGI connection.
