Dot Com Deaths Might Help Investors to Think Long Term

from the or-maybe-not dept

A very good column in InfoWorld about one of the effects of the sudden death of dot coms. The problem was that with all the overhype concerning quickly flipping dot com stocks, no one was thinking long term. Investments that were getting made were ones that they knew could be flipped within a year or two. The hope of the columnist is that perhaps this downturn will finally make investors start thinking a little more long term. Personally, I doubt it will work. I do agree that we should think more long term, and perhaps there should be more investors who take that view, but I think human nature will cause most investors to still look for the quick flip opportunities.
