News You Could Do Without

Are Playboy and Penthouse out-gunned

from the All-porn-is-good-porn dept

The question has been raised as to whether or not Playboy and Penthouse can properly compete with the thousands of porn web sites that are up today. Hey, look, let's be realistic, nudity is nudity and whether you're getting it from playboy.com or hotsex.com, it's still nudity. I will say, however, from my own experience that Playboy and Penthouse have much better articles... ;-)

    I don't know about you, but my favorite magazine for men is MAXIM. (and it doen't contain any nudity) I think it kicks but! The MAXIM website is improving also. I actually picked up a few good pointers from reading that mag.

    yes. maxim is good.. akin to my other favorite men's mag (a british one) "Loaded" -- they've got the site www.uploaded.com for their smut.

    Dan (who posted the original article) has tried to get me to make Maxim the official magazine of Techdirt... I think it's a bit of a stretch from a technology and business website to supporting a magazine such as Maxim... but it seems we have a few more votes for it now. :) I think what little journalistic integrity I have, though, will keep it off the official Techdirt list for now.

    It's a huge mistake to put Maxim in a different category than technology. They go hand in hand. What do men like most? Sex and cool toys. Plain and simple...
