End of Cyberspace Prank Case

from the legal-stuff dept

Interesting article in the New York Times about a legal case. It seems that back in '95 someone posted to an AOL bulletin board an offering for some inflammatory t-shirts (based on the Oklahoma City bombing). The phone number they put in the post to call was of Ken Zerran who claims he had nothing to do with it whatsoever. He asked AOL to get rid of the messages and they refused. He sued. Also, a radio station apparently read the messages and told people to call and yell at Ken also. He sued them also. It seems he lost all the cases involved. Some interesting legal questions are brought up by the case.
