UK Tells ISPs To Hand Over Names Of Customers To Recording Industry

from the privacy,-schmivacy dept

Just as the US Supreme Court has decided not to review a case which said ISPs didn't have to name names of customers when the recording industry accuses them of file sharing (without first actually suing), the British courts have decided to go in the other direction. ISPs now have to give up names and personal info. In other words, just as expected, the UK recording industry is making all the same mistakes as the US recording industry. Apparently, they haven't noticed that file sharing is still climbing, and that these lawsuits have done little for their core business, other than piss a lot of people off.
