Wired Clothing

from the sign-me-up dept

The snowboarding season this year has been pretty good in terms of snowfall, but there have been some very cold days out there. The idea of having a heated ski jacket sounds pretty cool. The article describes the technology, where the heating comes from stainless steel microfibers that are woven directly into the fabric of the jacket. The jacket can heat up to 114 degrees on full power. While it may be useful for snow bums, the military seems especially interested in it recently. The company that makes the technology is also looking at doing other cool wired clothing - and already have made a "textile USB cable". Maybe "wearable computing" will just be built directly into our clothing.
